GAMP was founded in the United Kingdom in 1991. Twenty-four years ago, the GAMP D-A-CH chapter was established in collaboration with ISPE and the VDI. That’s right—next year in September, we’ll be celebrating our 25th anniversary!
The basic idea was, and still is today, to promote a uniform approach—in accordance with the regulations in the regulated environment (pharmaceuticals and healthcare providers)—regarding the requirements for computerized systems (IT and OT—automation). The focus is on active communication and collaboration between providers and customers. This is documented in guides, technical articles, and standards; examples include the current GAMP 5 (2nd edition) and its GPGs (Good Practice Guides).
Twice a year—in March and September—the GAMP D-A-CH CoP meets at a different location each time from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (this timeframe allows many participants to travel to and from the event on the same day).
In addition to three technical presentations, participants will share their experiences with inspections—excluding representatives from government agencies. Zusätzlich wird über den aktuellen Stand der globalen GAMP-Aktivitäten unterrichtet. The day before a forum, the (currently six) working groups (SIGs: Special Interest Groups) meet; their findings are incorporated into, among other things, GPGs, articles for *Pharmaceutical Engineering*, and VDI/NAMUR publications.
Participation in the forums is free of charge—thanks to our sponsors, who provide us with the venues and much more, and make it possible for us to host the 50th forum as an anniversary event next year!
The next meeting will take place on September 9, 2026, in Vienna.
