ISPE D/A/CH at the ISPE Annual Meeting in Washington

The ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo 2026 took place from October 18 to 21 in Washington, D.C.This year’s high level of interest was reflected in the strong turnout and underscores the positive growth of ISPE as well as the importance of international exchange in the pharmaceutical industry. The focus was on current developments and innovations in the areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing, digitalization, sustainability, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements. Technical presentations, interactive workshops, and an extensive trade show offered insights into new technologies and practical solutions.

A special highlight was the awards ceremonies, during which outstanding achievements and innovations in the industry were recognized as part of the Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA) and the ISPE International Honor Awards.

Strong Presence in the D/A/CH Region: Commitment and Awards

The DACH region was once again strongly represented at this year’s ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo. It is particularly gratifying that two representatives from the DACH region—Georg Singewald and Günter Baumgartner—are serving on the international Board of Directors, where they can advocate for our region’s interests. This underscores the commitment and active role of the DACH community within the international ISPE.

A particular high point was the presentation of three awards to the DACH region, recognizing the dedication, innovative spirit, and technical expertise of our community.

Annex 1 Symposium: International Cooperation Recognized with an Award

Three years ago, the idea arose to launch a joint Annex 1 event organized by five European affiliates. Those ideas evolved into a new concept: the Annex 1 Symposium. The new format is designed to provide an opportunity for regulatory authorities to engage in close dialogue with industry representatives over the course of two days to discuss various key points from Annex 1. The first Annex 1 Symposium took place in Florence in 2025 and in Lyon in 2026. In 2027, the Annex 1 Symposium will be held in Munich on September 15 and 16.

The entire Annex 1 Symposium team won the International Award for “Committee of the Year—Annex 1 Symposium” at the ISPE Annual Meeting. ISPE DACH, led by Richard Denk, was involved in the development of the symposium from the very beginning. Other affiliates on the team included Italy, France, the Nordic countries, and Ireland.
