Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an unforgettable event: Industry Meets Women in Pharma by Merck. The day began with a warm welcome and an engaging icebreaker session, designed to help participants connect and feel at ease. It set the tone for an open and collaborative atmosphere.

Following this, our host guided the group through Merck’s impressive Life Science Center. Here, attendees explored the company’s milestones and learned more about its innovative products shaping the future of life sciences. The tour sparked curiosity and admiration for the depth of expertise behind Merck’s achievements.

After a networking lunch, the afternoon kicked off with an interactive workshop led by Alessandra Ambruosi, Director and Head of R&D Excipients at Merck. Participants worked in teams, rotating through multiple stations where they collaborated with Merck’s R&D experts on hands-on experiments. This practical experience was a highlight, offering a unique glimpse into the science behind excipients and fostering teamwork and creativity.

The learning continued with a series of inspiring presentations:

• Cristiana Amato, Sales Manager at VTU, shared her personal journey in “From Science to Strategy: A Personal Journey of Growth and Connection.”
• Vishakha Oza, Associate Director – Global Safety Sciences at CSL Behring, explored “Leadership Strategies for Thriving in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
• Ronald Meyns, Sales Manager at Rockwell Automation, discussed “The Human–Machine Collaboration Model: Driving Innovation Through Broader Perspectives and Evolving Roles.”

These sessions were followed by a dynamic panel discussion, where all speakers returned to address questions from the audience. The conversation was lively and insightful, touching on leadership, innovation, and the evolving role of technology in pharma. Attendees actively engaged, making it a truly collaborative exchange of ideas.

To conclude the day, many participants joined us in Darmstadt for a networking dinner. The atmosphere was vibrant, with meaningful conversations, new connections, and plenty of “aha” moments. The event not only delivered a high learning curve but also strengthened bonds within the industry.
