On November 26th and 27th, 2025, ISPE D/A/CH hosted an exceptional two-day event titled “The Future of Pharmaceutical Water – Next-Gen Purity Inspired by Semiconductor Solutions”, bringing together experts and innovators to explore how cutting-edge technologies from the semiconductor industry can shape the future of pharmaceutical water systems.
The event attracted around 120 participants and 13 exhibitors, creating a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and networking. Attendees represented a truly international community, with participants from the DACH region, Italy, USA, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The agenda featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and presentations covering critical topics such as:
- Ultrapure water systems and next-generation purity standards
- PFAS and WFI impurity challenges
- Water-reclaim strategies and sustainability in water treatment
- Regulatory developments and compliance trends
Coffee breaks turned into lively networking opportunities, with participants actively engaging in discussions and sharing best practices.
One of the highlights was the exclusive tour of semiconductor-industry facilities, hosted by Infineon Technologies, GlobalFoundries, and Bosch. Participants had the rare opportunity to see state-of-the-art UPW and wastewater plants, gaining insights into technologies that could redefine pharmaceutical water standards.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of ISPE D/A/CH’s CoP Critical Utilities Team and partners from CRB, Syntegon, BWT Pharma & Biotech, Exentec, and R-Pharm Germany GmbH. Special thanks go to the speakers and panelists from leading organizations, including: EDQM (Council of Europe), Exyte, Merck Group, Innovatec Gerätetechnik GmbH, Angst+Pfister, CRB, Biopharmaceutical Water Doc., Octapharma, Ecolab, Takeda, Particle Measuring Systems, Gradiant, BakerHicks, and Ovivo.
This event demonstrated the power of cross-industry collaboration and the potential for semiconductor-inspired solutions to drive
efficiency, sustainability, and purity in pharmaceutical water systems.
The discussions and connections made during these two days will undoubtedly lead to real-world improvements and future partnerships.
ISPE D/A/CH extends its gratitude to all organizers, speakers, exhibitors, and participants for making this event a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation and shaping the future of pharmaceutical water together.
