Best Practices in Operational Excellence – First workshop with site visit

Successful first workshop for the new Best Practices in Operational Excellence working group

The first workshop of the ISPE DACH Working Group “Operational Excellence” took place on March 16 – a successful start to a new working group that has already met with great interest in advance. The event was quickly fully booked, impressively demonstrating the high relevance and dynamism of the topic of operational excellence in the pharmaceutical industry.

The workshop was hosted by Pfizer in Freiburg, where a varied program was offered with two specialist presentations, two interactive workshops and an extensive site visit. The participants were able to visit two solids production facilities, including a high-containment plant, which illustrated the continuous development of solids production. Another highlight was the visit to the fully automated high-bay warehouse, which impressively demonstrated automation and digitalization in practice.

Pfizer presented its digital transformation journey towards true Operational Excellence, while Roche gave insights into its organizational evolution – in particular the shift from a “push” to a “pull” approach in the implementation of Operational Excellence.

The day offered a perfect mix of practical examples, exchange of experiences and lively dialog – a strong start for the new working group and an inspiring example of how collaboration within the ISPE DACH community drives operational excellence in pharmaceutical production.
