ispe_workshop_24. – October 25, 2013, Biberach. This 1.5-day workshop will present the planning process from an idea through basic requirements, various concept studies, user requirements and planning phases to the creation of a state-of-the-art, fully automated sterile production facility.

The workshop will take place at Boehringer Ingelheim in Biberach.
The flexible plant structure allows liquid vials, lyophilized vials, double-chambered carpules and, in the future, single-chambered carpules to be produced.
A sophisticated plant layout allows parallel filling of two products in a machine complex consisting of 2 filling lines, 2 freeze dryers, 2 flanging machines and 5 isolator segments. The plant automation, plant visualization and electronic manufacturing report were implemented using the latest automation technology.
The implementation of the high user requirements was carried out by an interdisciplinary and highly motivated project team and required a precise selection of the equipment suppliers.
The implementation of the project in an existing production building during ongoing operations presented further challenges to the user, planners, equipment suppliers and project team.
The project was completed on time and within budget and represents a further milestone in sterile filling at Boehringer Ingelheim in Biberach. At the workshop, there will be an opportunity to see the plants and their major ancillary components up close.
